The corrugated carton box standard

The carton box design start from determining the nature of the product and the box template. Once the carton box template determined we can start the parts size design and calculation of the carton box.

1. International carton box standard

The international corrugated carton box standard can be divided into two categories, one is the international carton box standard approved by the International Association of corrugated board Industry Federation, developed by developed by FEFCO and Switzerland cardboard Association (ASSCO); another standard is the Japan, United States national Institute of Standards. The international carton box standard name the box template with a simple 4 to 8-digit code, the box templates and their code can be checked in the standard.

The unified number indicates the box template species of the same box different from a box template structure, the modification comes from the respective manufacturers. The modifications suffix code box represented different manufacturers, but the same manufacturer used the dedicated code. The suffix codes facilitate the establishment of the CAD / CAM library or a dedicated box template library.

Such as the commonly used 02 carton, also known as the slotted cartons, using one cardboard molding, the upper and lower cover closed the carton. Usually carton manufacturer by stapling, adhesive or paper tape adhesive bonded joints, the bonding side length according corrugated board thickness, generally between 25 mm ~ 45 mm. 02 carton also has insert bottom structure, its characteristic is to prevent the articles from leaking from the bottom. 02 corrugated box can be flatted for transport, when loaded contents to seal the cover, it is the most widely used carton packaging.

2. GB carton box standard

China's carton box standard GB GB/T6543-2008 get reference from international standards "transport packaging with single corrugated boxes and double corrugated boxes", it specifies the transport packaging with single corrugated boxes and double corrugated box.

This standard specifies the box template ID consists of four digits, the first two digits of code represents a kind of box, and the last two digits represent the different carton style of the same carton box. At present, China used corrugated boxes is 02 class, that is A class carton box in the United States, Japan standard. The 03 type is set up carton, which is characterized by separate use, the lid and the box is separated(top cover, bottom cover). 04 type is the folding cartons, usually composed by one corrugated cardboard, without stapling or gluing, production, according to the requirements of manufacturing.

It should take into account the selection of corrugated cardboard when starts the carton packaging design, including the type of flute, cardboard layers, the base paper specifications, which were clearly defined in the relevant standards and information.
